Allan M. Lefer, PhD, Awarded Pfizer Visiting Professorship;
Only 10 Such Awards Given Nationally

Allan M. Lefer, PhD, professor of physiology and chairman of the 
department, has been awarded a Pfizer Visiting Professorship in 
Cardiovascular Medicine. Only 10 such awards are given nationally each 
year.

Dr. Lefer was a Visiting Professor at Tulane University Medical Center, 
New Orleans, from January 24 to 27. While there he presented three 
lectures: "The Role of Nitric Oxide in Vascular Remodeling Following 
Intimal Injury," "P-selectin and Nitric Oxide in Leukocyte-Endothelial 
Interactions," and "The Complement System in Myocardial Ischemia-
Reperfusion Injury."
