========================== JeffNEWS, January 31, 1995 ========================== Jefferson Names New Radiation Oncology Vice-Chairman ---------------------------------------------------- Benjamin W. Corn, MD, has been named the new vice-chairman and associate professor of Jefferson's department of radiation oncology. Dr. Corn comes to Jefferson from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where he functioned as clinical director of the department of radiation oncology. He was jointly appointed as an associate member of the department of radiation oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Prior to this, Dr. Corn was an assistant professor in the department of radiation oncology at the University of Pennsylvania where he helped establish the first radiosurgery program in the city of Philadelphia. Dr. Corn's areas of interest are in tumors of the brain, gynecologic and genito-urinary tracts. He will be the co-director of the radiosurgery program of the brain tumor research consortium that has developed between Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Corn will also direct the residency program of the department of radiation oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a task that is particularly endeared to him since he is the winner of two teaching awards; The Giulio J. D'Angio Award from the University of Pennsylvania and the Rosaline Joseph Award from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Corn is a graduate of the combined BA/MD program of Boston University. He completed his medical internship at the Boston VA/Tufts New England Medical Centers.
