The
first symposium of the Lennox K. Black International Prize for Excellence
in Medicine drew more than 300 participants, 87 of whom were from
abroad representing 15 nations - Argentina, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany,
Australia, France, United Kingdom, Italy, China, Japan, Korea, Finland,
Canada, Israel and The Netherlands. The topic of the symposium was
"Structure, Function and Genetics of the Extracellular Matrix."

speaker for the 9th Annual Raymond C. Grandon Lecture was Francesco
Taroni, MD, Director, Italian National Agency for Regional Health
Care Services. His topic was "Through the Patient's Eyes: Whatever
