Jefferson University Hospital Offers Premier Years Free to Adults 55+ to Help Them Keep Healthy At Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, we have a long history of providing expert care for the elderly when they become ill. Now, we can offer something even better: A program to help older adults stay well. This fall, the Jefferson Health System (JHS) launched Premier Years, a free wellness and health education membership program for people age 55 and older. Now being offered across JHS, Premier Years provides members with access to health information they can use to improve their lifestyles and, ultimately, their wellbeing. Initially launched at Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1987, Premier Years has grown to include more than 60,000 members. “Premier Years provides a variety of free benefits including screenings, health education programs, insurance counseling, prescription drug discounts and a quarterly newsletter packed with information designed to keep its members healthy,” says Maureen Casey, who was recently named Director of Premier Years. Future benefits will also include discounts on restaurants, travel, hotels and health clubs. Ms. Casey relies on site managers for help in developing and implementing new programs and services for the JHS organizations. Vicki Sherman, previously the Senior Patient Representative for Jefferson University Hospital, is responsible for the Center City region. “Knowledge of medical advancements and an improved understanding of health can dramatically extend the life span of most people,” says Ms. Sherman. “At Premier Years, it’s our job to educate people about lifestyle options and medical choices that can enable them to live and enjoy life for much longer.” Hospital, University and Jefferson University Physicians’ employees are encouraged to join Premier Years or to invite patients, family members and friends age 55 and older to sign up. For more information, call 1-888-JEFF-777, visit the JHS web site at www.jeffersonhealth.org/premieryears , or contact Vicki Sherman at 215-955-7554. |
