Compliance Corner
Sanctioned Persons

Under Federal law, health care providers that employ persons who have been barred from participating in Medicare or Medicaid are at risk of being penalized by the government. To avoid this risk, our Human Resources Department carefully screens all prospective employees before they are hired. We will not hire anyone who is not eligible to provide services to Medicare and Medicaid patients.

In addition, we periodically compare our entire employee roster against a list of “Sanctioned Persons” published by the Office of Inspector General. In the event that the name of one of our employees appears on the “Sanctioned Persons” list, an investigation will be conducted. If the results of the investigation show that the employee has been banned from the Medicare or Medicaid program for any reason, our policy requires that the employee be discharged.

For more information on this topic, talk to your supervisor or contact the Human Resources Department or the Corporate Compliance Officer.
