United Way Campaign Kicks Off October 10

Jefferson's 2000 United Way Campaign kicks off with a lively campaign event, a photo display of Jeffersonians' participation in the Day of Caring, and visits from United Way agency representatives.

This year's kickoff and campaign are bound to be winning ones, says 2000 Cabinet Chairperson Patricia Wallace, Manager, Volunteer Services, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

University President Paul C. Brucker, MD, and Hospital President and CEO Thomas J. Lewis, both have emphasized the importance of encouraging more Jeffersonians to donate to United Way. If you've never supported United Way before, please join your colleagues in contributing toward Jefferson's goal of $240,000. You can make a big difference in the lives of people who are experiencing difficult times.

"With just one contribution, you can reach out to more than one million people through United Way's member agencies or other qualified health and human services agencies in our area," says Ms. Wallace, who was appointed to chair the campaign by Dr. Brucker.

The campaign kicks off Tuesday, October 10. That's when the United Way cabinet hosts campaigners for breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the hospital's East Atrium Cafeteria. Senior administrators will drop in during the kickoff to wish the campaigners well. Community Carey will also add to the event's festivities.

The campaign ends on Friday, November 3, giving Jeffersonians three weeks to reach our $240,000 goal. Throughout the campaign, campaigners will receive free coffee, tea or hot chocolate when they present their United Way mugs at the Atrium or Atrium food carts in building lobbies.

When your department's campaigner asks about your contribution, why not arrange to make it through payroll deduction? For your convenience, you may also pay your United Way pledge using Visa or MasterCard. Help your campaigner and yourself be eligible for exciting prizes and drawings by getting your pledge form in early.
