Jefferson Health System, ManorCare Health Services Announce Joint Agreement to Offer Programs for Seniors
Two prominent healthcare entities - Jefferson Health System and ManorCare Health Services - are joining forces to create innovative programs for older adults.
This new affiliation initially will concentrate on increasing the range of services available at ManorCare at Devon, located on Lancaster Avenue in Devon, Pa. The agreement calls for ManorCare and Jefferson to provide a full array of programs in some key service areas, says Barry Rabner, Vice President of Non-acute Services, Jefferson Health System (JHS).
"Jefferson is building a system that will meet the health needs of all older adults, the self-reliant senior as well as the person who needs homemaker services or full nursing care. This has led us to develop an array of services that includes wellness classes, a congregational nurse program, day care centers and nursing home medical management," Rabner says.
"ManorCare believes, as we do, in giving people the support they need to remain as healthy and independent as possible. We are pleased to be working with them in broadening the options for older adults and their families at this residence," he adds ManorCare at Devon is a "senior living community," with options for seniors who are totally independent, for those who need some assistance with daily living and for residents who need full-time nursing care. It is close to three JHS facilities, Bryn Mawr Rehab, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Paoli Memorial Hospital.
"We look forward to pursuing this exciting venture with such a well-known quality health system," says Debbie Howe, Vice President for the Northeastern Division of ManorCare. "This complements the continuum of care we've been offering to seniors in the Delaware Valley. We specially look forward to working with Jefferson Health System physicians on opportunities to enhance services for their patients."
ManorCare Health Services is one of the largest long-term care providers in the United States and operates more than 200 health-care facilities in 29 states. It offers a continuum of services that includes home care, assisted living centers, physical rehabilitation units and skilled nursing facilities. ManorCare also has designed a multi-level system of facilities for the care of Alzheimer patients.
