Jefferson's United Way Campaign Kicks Off October 1

Jefferson's United Way campaign kicks off Wednesday, October 1, at the campaigners' breakfast from 8:45 to 10 a.m. in the Jefferson Alumni Hall dining room. The program will include remarks by University President, Paul C. Brucker, MD, and by special guest speaker Sister Mary Scullion, RSM, who is Executive Director and Co-founder for Project H.O.M.E., a program to enable chronically homeless persons to break the cycle of homelessness. There will also be a showing of the 1997 United Way film and a video of Jefferson's United Way Cabinet activities on their Day of Caring volunteer project.

At the kick-off, campaigners can get their packet of campaign materials or can arrange for colleagues to get the packet for them. Packets remaining after breakfast may be picked up at the United Way office at 2160 Gibbon on October 2.

The campaign ends Wednesday, October 22, giving us three weeks to reach our $215,000 goal.

Employees who wish to make anonymous contributions may hand-deliver them to the night drop box at 2270 Gibbon. Contributions may also be delivered to the United Way office at 2160 Gibbon, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Three Ways to Help United Way

You can choose three different ways to make your United Way contribution:

If you have any questions about the United Way drive, ask your campaigner or call the United Way Hotline at 3-5566.

Whatever way you choose to make your United Way contribution, please return your pledges and do so as early in the campaign as possible. Returning your pledge form to your campaigner before October 10, 1997 will make you eligible for an "Early Return Raffle" for exciting prizes donated by University vendors.

Prizes include Round Trip Airline tickets, Philadelphia Eagles tickets for the October 19 game vs. Arizona Cardinals, four 76'ers tickets with VIP parking, gift certificates for: TJU Bookstore, Commuter Services and Commons, Dining With Heart, Health Awareness Program, Bonatsos Florists and many others. Also included among the prizes are Hewlett Packard financial calculators and movie tickets. The raffle will be held on October 14. Please include your campus telephone number on your campaign pledge form so that all prize winners will be notified.
