Bowers Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, who is also the new chairman of the department. Dr. Bowers is a JMC alumnus, Class of 1937.

The estate of Philip D. Gilbert, MD, JMC '33, named Thomas Jefferson University to receive $1.75 million for use by Jefferson Medical College (JMC).

This substantial bequest will fund an endowment to provide unrestricted funds to JMC. Dr. Gilbert, a radiologist, was a member of the JMC faculty from 1952 to 1973, and a staff physician at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, where he lived. He died last April.

"This wonderfully generous gift is all the more appreciated for being unrestricted," says Joseph S. Gonnella, MD, Dean of JMC. "It gives us the opportunity and the freedom to use this support where it is most needed. Because it is an endowment, it will be of great assistance far into the future and is a meaningful way for Dr. Gilbert to honor his alma mater." Visit our website at: www.tju.edu/jeffgiving/
