At the Annual Jefferson Safety Fest,
Randolph L. Haines, CEM, CPE, Energy Manager, Division of Energy Services, Department of
Facilities Services, left, presents to John P. Sullivan, Vice President for
Administration, a plaque awarded to Jefferson by the Environmental Protection Agency
(E.P.A.) for Jeffersons achievement in the Greenlights Project. This E.P.A. program
promotes the reduction of pollution through electrical conservation. Jefferson, a
participant in the E.P.A. program since 1995, received the award for converting 25 percent
(more than one million square feet) of the campuss flourescent lighting to
high-efficiency lighting.

Joseph S. Gonnella, MD, Senior Vice
President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson
University, was awarded the 1998 Abraham Flexner Award the most prestigious award
presented by the Association of American Medical Colleges at its 109th annual meeting. The
Flexner Award recognizes the highest standards in medical education and honors individuals
whose impact on medical education is national in scope. Thomas Jefferson University
President Paul C. Brucker, MD, said Dr. Gonnella has made extraordinary contributions to
the medical school and the medical education community as a whole, and is greatly
deserving of this award. |
