TJU and Frankford Hospital School of Nursing Form Educational Partnership

A new educational agreement between the nursing programs of Thomas Jefferson University and Frankford Hospital means that Jefferson has established a regional campus at Frankford Hospital and that RN graduates of Frankford’s School of Nursing will be able to earn their bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degrees from Jefferson in less than a year.

Begun this fall, the Frankford Campus-based Jefferson RN-BSN program has enrolled 50 students, according to Joan M. Jenks, RN, PhD, Director of the baccalaureate division of the Department of Nursing in Jefferson’s College of Health Professions.

The RN-BSN courses, which are available on a full-time and part-time basis, are open to graduates of other diploma nursing schools or of associate degree programs. Currently, courses are scheduled so that students need to attend only one day a week.

Frankford Hospital’s School of Nursing is one of the largest diploma nursing schools in the Philadelphia area.

“We are proud to offer our students this wonderful opportunity to earn a BSN from such a prestigious university,” said Frankford’s Dean, Mary Gilchrist, EdD, RN.
