Whether you're looking for a quick bite to take out, a leisurely lunch with a colleague in a pleasant restaurant setting, or an elegant and convenient location for a business meeting, the Jefferson Faculty Club is made to order. For over a quarter of a century, the Faculty Club has provided a comfortable and congenial dining environment for Jefferson physicians, researchers, teachers, alumni and more recently, administrators and managerial staff.
"We all need to take a break from the classroom, clinic, laboratory or office," says Faculty Club President Gerald B. Grunwald, PhD, Professor, Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Graduate Studies. "That's why the Faculty Club is such a wonderful asset to Jefferson, because it promotes the interaction of people from different corners of the University." Located on the Mezzanine level of Jefferson Alumni Hall, the Faculty Club is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Annual dues are $50 for the academic year and members are billed monthly for meals.
With a current roster of 164 members, the club is encouraging new membership by reducing the annual dues to $25 until the close of the academic year in June. "The great thing about the Faculty Club is that there really is something for everyone," explains Club Manager Shelley Chamberlain, RD, Assistant Director for Dining Services. "The wait staff takes pride in knowing what members who eat here on a regular basis enjoy. Other members who eat on the run love our salads and bistro sandwiches for take out."
All faculty members, alumni, senior administration and management level employees are eligible for Faculty Club membership. A general board meeting for the election of officers and other club business is scheduled for May 12 at noon and is open to all members. For membership information, contact Shawn Butler in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at 5-7691.
