We Value Your Opinion...
Hospital, University Survey Employees

Last month it was announced that Jefferson will conduct a confidential employee survey, and Jeffersonians will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on a variety of issues beginning November 2nd.

“There have been unprecedented changes in healthcare over the past few years,” said Paul C. Brucker, MD, President of Thomas Jefferson University and Chairman of the Board of Jefferson Health System. “As we prepare to address the many challenges still ahead, we want to ask our employees for their views on work life, how Jefferson can improve as an employer, and how together we can more effectively fulfill our missions of patient care, education and research.”

University and Hospital employees will participate in the survey. Faculty and Foundation employees are not being surveyed, although members of the medical staff will be asked to share their opinions in a separate telephone survey designed for physicians.

Thomas J. Lewis, President and Chief Executive Officer for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, noted that other members of the Jefferson Health System are also participating in the survey process. “We share a common interest in hearing what our employees have to say,” said Mr. Lewis, “and this survey can be the foundation for positive change at Jefferson and throughout the Jefferson Health System.”

Employees can be assured that their responses will be completely confidential. John P. Sullivan, Vice President for Administation, said that an outside consultant has been retained to assist with the survey process. “Only the consultant will open and read the completed surveys – they will not be seen by anyone at Jefferson,” said Mr. Sullivan.

He explained that the consultant will provide only summaries of responses, not individual responses, but the results will be broken down by department or unit within the organization to facilitate feedback and problem-solving.

The survey will be conducted between November 2 and November 13, and the results will be communicated to all employees within one month after that. If you have questions about the survey process, please contact Brian P. Bowie, Director of Employee Relations and Human Resources Development, at 3-5319. Mr. Bowie is working closely with the consultant as Chair of a University and Hospital Committee that is assisting in the design of the questionnaire and overseeing the administration of the survey.
