Womens Health Source and Chinese Resource Center To Open This Fall
Two new services for community members, Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals Womens Health Source and the Jefferson Chinese Resource Center, will debut with a grand opening, Tuesday, September 22 at the new facility on the first floor of the hospitals Gibbon Building, 10th and Chestnut.
The Womens Health Source will assist women in meeting family needs by gaining knowledge and information on healthcare and lifestyle issues. The Jefferson Chinese Resource Center, located within the Womens Health Source, will provide health education, medical interpretation, support for Chinese-speaking hospitalized patients, and assistance in making appointments with health care professionals for the Chinese community.
The services will be staffed by a bilingual customer service representative to greet and help clients obtain information. At Womens Health Source, a health educator will respond to phone inquiries, perform computer searches, and provide advice and referrals. Other resources available include a library, videos, computers to access a CD-ROM video library and the internet, seminars and support groups.
The Womens Health Source Grand Opening will feature speaker Joan Borysenko, PhD, author of Minding the Body, Mending the Mind as well as seven other books on health, healing and spirituality. Dr. Borysenko will speak at the Bluemle Life Sciences Building, room 101, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Following the presentation will be a ribbon cutting and reception at the new facility on the first floor of Gibbon.
From Wednesday September 23 through Friday, September 25, the Center will have an open house for employees and community members. The Womens Health Source and the Jefferson Chinese Resource Center open to the public Monday, September 28. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. For more information, call Denise Braun at 955-1208.
