“April 1 is the deadline to nominate your candidate for The Miss Janet C. Hindson Award, which will be presented in May during the celebration of Nurses’ Week,” says Mary Ann McGinley, PhD, RN, Senior Vice President for Patient Care for the Hospital. “The Award recognizes individuals whose work celebrates the caring and service to others that characterized Miss Hindson’s life.”

Nominees considered for the award must demonstrate qualities that reflect:

• a commitment to relieving the suffering of others
• respect for colleagues and interest in the professional growth of others
• creating of environments that support the physical, mental and spiritual comfort of others

To nominate a candidate for this award, please submit a letter describing the qualities of the candidate and their relevance to the Janet C. Hindson Award. Please include explicit examples of behavior of the nominee and its impact on the environment of care and on colleagues. In addition, please include in the letter the name, title, address and phone number of the nominee as well as for the person nominating the candidate.

The Janet C. Hindson Award Steering Committee will meet in early April to consider candidates. Notification of the award winner and his or her sponsor will take place on or before April 30th.
