  • Michael Mooreville, MD, Instructor of Urology, Jefferson Medical College, recently presented an educational course for certification in the use of interstitial laser ablation of the prostate to the Urology Department of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ.

 

  • Steven Mandel, MD, FAADEP, Department of Neurology, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and Clinical Professor of Neurology, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, recently coauthored an article "Laryngeal EMG: Electromyographic Evaluation of Vocal Fold Disorders," which appeared in the November/December 1998 issue of Journal of Singing. The article summarizes the techniques and procedures used during a laryngeal EMG, as well as common abnormal findings. The laryngeal EMG can be a useful diagnostic tool for physicians when evaluating the voice patient and aid in determining a therapeutic plan of care.

 

  • Joy Hubbard, RN, Operating Room Nurse, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, appeared in a production of Scrooge during the holidays along with her two children. Joy first took up acting as a hobby three years ago. Since then she, has appeared in six different productions. In Scrooge, Joy played the part of the "Ghost of Christmas Past" while her daughter Caroline portrayed a pudding seller and her son Lex helped behind the scenes as assistant stage manager. The play took place at the Ritz theater in Oaklyn, NJ and celebrated the 10th anniversary of this production at the theater.
