Jeffersonians note with deep sadness the death on March 25, of Robert C. Baldridge, PhD, former Dean, College of Graduate Studies (CGS).

Appointed in 1969, Dr. Baldridge served as the first Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. In this position, Dean Baldridge undertook the responsibility of having the new College recognized as an accredited Graduate School. This involved implementing a Graduate Council and presiding over Council meetings.

In 1981, Dr. Baldridge resigned from his position as Dean to pursue his earlier interest in teaching and research. From July 1985 to April 1986, he served as Acting Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry, JMC, and retired in June 1986.

Dr. Baldridge is survived by his five children and six grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cardeza Foundation, c/o Jefferson Medical College, 1025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
