A Perfect Match Wins AAMC Award

During the 29th annual Association of American Medical Colleges meeting, Jefferson’s Public Relations Department received the Group on Institutional Advancement Award of Excellence in the Special Projects category for its campaign "A Perfect Match in More Ways Than One." The story involved a man and woman who met on the internet and got married. What made Teresa Dravk’s and Ian Fleming’s story so interesting is that Ian also donated a kidney to Teresa in a procedure that took place at Jefferson.

The Public Relations Department at Jefferson promoted the story using a special internet page, as well as television and print news coverage, which kept users updated on the couple’s progress and increased awareness of and referrals to Jefferson’s transplant program. It also increased awareness and visitors to the Jefferson Hospital Web site. Jefferson received this award for this creative use of the Web.

The award is being presented to Phyllis Fisher, Director of Public Relations; Jeffrey Adam Baxt, Media Relations Representative; both in the Department of Public Relations, and Mark Mistysyn, Web Editor, Department of Marketing, later this month at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
