For the first time in history, four generations are now active in the workplace at once. What can Jefferson Medical College faculty do to bridge generational differences rather than allowing them to interfere with the development of the talent Jefferson depends on for its vitality? This Affiliations Day program will help us to turn generational differences into a strength and to maximize our impact as educators, mentors and managers. Through practice with relationship-centered communications tools and using cases, role play and small group discussion of common challenges, we will improve our capacities to educate and coach the next generation of professionals.

* Janet Bickel is a nationally recognized expert in career and leadership development. Over 115 academic health centers, dozens of professional societies and diverse other organizations have invited her presentations and consultations. Designing and facilitating a wide range of programs, Ms. Bickel coaches individuals in realizing their potentials and achieving their goals and works with organizations to improve the relationship and communication skills of people at all levels. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical Education at George Washington University School of Medicine and also teaches Leadership at the CIA and the National Reconnaissance Office.
