The Cardeza Center pursues a broad range of basic research, which can be divided into three focus areas: Basic Research; Clinica/Tranlastional Research; and Core Laboratories.

- Genetic and other biomarkers for assessing thrombosis risk and drug risk/benefit – Bray
- New apheresis technology, platelet transfusions in the therapy of hematologic diseases – Herman
