Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care
Research in Progress
Research is considered an integral part of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship training by the Accreditation Committee on Graduate Medical Education, the Division, and these Institutions. Participation in an active research program is an essential component for fellows enrolled in subspecialty fellowship training programs. Each program must provide an opportunity for fellows to participate in research or other scholarly activities, and fellows must participate actively in such scholarly activities. The program must ensure a meaningful, supervised research experience with appropriate protected time. Fellows must learn the standards of ethical conduct of research, design and interpretation of research studies, responsible use of informed consent, research methodology, methods of choosing and performing statistical analysis, and interpretation of data.
