Research and Clinical Interests
Research Interest: We are mainly working on targeted vectors designing using spleen necrosis virus(SNV) as well as HIV-1 vectors for targeted delivery of siRNA or gene(s). Our laboratory is focusing on neurovirology and has published a number of articles in peered review journals. However, I am also interested in vaccine and the reason is that SNV is a very simple virus and is non-pathogenic to human. HIV-1 virus causing AIDS is a major health issue and concern globally. So far the vaccine research against HIV-1 virus was based on utilization of DNA vectors and in our opinion may not be successful and the reason could be the use of HIV-1 virus based vectors. We propose that the use of simple virus like SNV is the answer for vaccine against HIV-1 virus. The Jefferson Vaccine center will be a big help and support for my future work.
