Education facilities:

The Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute and the Division of Diagnostic Ultrasound of the Department of Radiology are located in a 28,000 square foot facility, making it one of the largest ultrasound facilities in the world.

The education facility includes a conference center with three classrooms, an audiovisual center and learning laboratories. The Institute offers a wide range of formal courses on the applications of diagnostic ultrasound. In addition, physicians and sonographers with specific areas of interest may take advantage of more than 2,500 hours of video tapes from previous lectures. Most courses feature organized hands-on sessions providing participants with opportunities to obtain experience on available ultrasound equipment. The division currently has over 30 ultrasound scanners, including conventional, color Doppler, and 3-D instruments.

The education area is adjacent to the clinical and research areas which include 21 ultrasound examining rooms. More than 50,000 ultrasound examinations are performed each year in the Division of Ultrasound.  Top of Page
