Mission Statement:
"To improve women’s health throughout the lifespan and to foster effective and efficient research through collaboration, coordination and education."
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a proven track record of ongoing IRB approved projects, both investigator initiated and Funded Research Studies.
Through this collaboration and education we work with first year medical students by providing a competitive, mentored Summer Research Program which is a Federally funded work study program; with fourth year medical student’s Research Elective. Resident physicians: each resident is expected to complete and present at least one research project during their 4 year residency. Fellows in the Department are trained in research, and are expected to spend a good bit of their time engaged in collaborative or original research. Residents and Fellows present their research at the Annual Residents and Fellows Research Day which is held in the spring before graduation.
