The Foerderer Award for International Study will be made available to students in good academic standing in the College of Graduate Studies, Jefferson Medical College, the School of Health Professions, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and School of Population Health who wish to enhance their educational experience by studying outside the United States for a period not less than 3 weeks and not to exceed 8 weeks. Travel must occur between September 30, 2010 and August 31, 2011.
Students may apply up to one year in advance for funding that may cover up to 70 percent of estimated costs. The total amount available for all awards in AY 2010-2011 is $35,000. The limit per individual is $1500. Submitting an accurate budget is recommended. Funding priorities are in this order: roundtrip airfare, program fees (if any), lodging, and supplies. Personal travel expenses will not be funded. In 2009-2010, 37 out of 58 applicants received some grant funds which ranged from $400 to $1500 per person.
The Office of International Exchange Services has binders of reports from student trips in the past for ideas to create your own program.
