A Medical and Functional Imaging Study of the Natural Progression of Parkinson's Disease

The Parkinson's Disease Research Unit at Thomas Jefferson University, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, is conducting a research study examining the natural progression of Parkinson's disease in patients treated with conventional anti-Parkinson medications. We are looking for patients with mild to moderate symptoms, between the ages of 39-85 years old, and who have not had surgery related to their Parkinson's disease. Patients will continue to be medically managed by their own physician or neurologist and will visit our office in Philadelphia every 6 months for 2 years for a comprehensive clinical assessment. Patients will also have a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan of their brain and dopamine nerve endings performed annually. Participants will receive compensation for their participation in the study.
