Pathophysiology of Human Disease (NU570) and Pathologic Aspects of Disease (PA570) cover selected topics in general and systemic pathology. Students develop an awareness of the most important disorders affecting the organ systems of the body. Students learn about the causes (etiology) and progression (pathogenesis) of representative diseases selected to illustrate the responses of the major organ systems to injury. The emphasis is on active acquisition of knowledge through independent study of the course textbook and full participation in the online course activities. Clinical vignettes and case studies stimulate visual learning and enhance problem solving skills. An online discussion board displays student-generated essays and provides a forum for class discussion. Examination scores and academic progress are reported online.
