Graduate Certificate in Public Health

The Certificate in Public Health is especially designed for working professionals in government or private sector health organizations seeking to enhance their knowledge of public health practice. It is also intended for those who are interested in public health but who do not wish to pursue a graduate degree in public health at this time. The 18-credit graduate program covers the five core areas of public health – behavioral and social sciences, biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, and public health policy.  All credits earned for the Certificate can be applied to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program.

Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Quality & Safety

The Certificate in Healthcare Quality & Safety is designed for professionals working in all aspects of health care who are seeking to enhance their knowledge of healthcare quality and patient safety. Graduates will acquire the skills necessary for the design and implementation of programs and policies that measurably improve healthcare quality and patient safety.

The Certificate requires completion of six courses (18 credits), all of which can be applied to the Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety (MS-HQS) degree program.

Students may start the certificate program in the fall or spring term and proceed at their own pace as long as at least one course is taken each term until completion. The course of study for the certificate can be completed in one to two years.

Graduate Certificate in Chronic Care Management

The Certificate in Chronic Care Management prepares leaders to critically analyze, design, implement, and evaluate systems to improve chronic illness prevention and care management across various health care settings and populations.

The Certificate comprises six courses (18 credits), all of which can be applied to the Master of Science in Chronic Care Managment (MS-CCM) degree program. All courses are offered asynchronously online, offering flexibility, convenience and high quality.

Students may start the certificate program in the fall or spring term and proceed at their own pace as long as at least one course is taken each term until completion. The course of study for the certificate can be completed in one to two years.

  • Clinical training in fundamentals of chronic disease (e.g. medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, OT/PT) or satisfactory completion of Introduction to Chronic Disease (3 credit) or equivalent coursework
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Submission of scores from Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or equivalent graduate level examination (i.e., LSAT, MCAT, etc.) or
    A minimum 3.3 undergraduate GPA

The Certificate in Health Policy is designed for professionals working in all aspects of health care who are seeking to enhance their knowledge of healthcare organization, delivery and financing and wishing to hone the analytical skills necessary to develop and implement health policy. 

The Certificate comprises six courses (18 credits), all of which can be applied to the Master of Science in Health Policy (MS- HP) degree program.

Students may start the certificate program in the fall or spring term and proceed at their own pace as long as at least one course is taken each term until completion. The course of study for the certificate can be completed in one to two years.
