Musculoskeletal
The Musculoskeletal Fellowship is a one-year clinical and research program for two fellows. The fellow participates in an intensive training program in musculoskeletal imaging which includes plain films, linear tomography, arthrography, discography, nerve blocks, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, and tumor ablations, percutaneous bone biopsy, and CT and MRI of the spine and extremities. Case volume is roughly 100 MRIs and 120 plain films daily. Educational opportunities are enhanced, by weekly film MRI and plain films review conferences, and bi-weekly didactic conferences. The fellow participates in monthly sports medicine, wrist, foot and ankle and spine conferences, as well as in frequent rheumatology and orthopedic clinical rounds. Members of the musculoskeletal section are active in clinical and laboratory research projects in the fields of musculoskeletal MRI, radiologic-orthopedic-correlation in bone and joint abnormalities, and bone marrow disorders. Fellowship training is also enhanced by daily teaching rounds with the trauma team, the orthopedic surgical staff, and members of the rheumatology division. The program currently supports two positions through the match and one additional position is available for externally funded candidates.
