            Research at Jefferson

Just as integration is critical to our vision for healthcare education, it is also a driving theme for our efforts in research. Integration stimulates greater opportunity for scientists and clinicians to collaborate on research activities that extend from the laboratory to the patient bedside and into the community.  From basic science through clinical trials, our clinical and research teams will work together to address today's most pressing health concerns.

But no institution can provide depth in every area of medical investigation.  While research on myriad medical problems will continue at Jefferson, we will concentrate particularly on key areas that represent major health challenges, and which also will integrate efforts across our research, education, and teaching domains.  We will place particular emphasis on cancer and cancer biology; cardiac and cardiovascular biology; neuroscience; population and public health; infectious disease and vaccines.
