Having chosen a career in surgery, you are about to embark on an incredible journey.  Over the next 6 years, you will learn about surgery and yourself. Becoming a surgeon is a quest to become a consummate physician and human being.  You will combine your knowledge and skills with care and compassion.  You will touch patients’ lives, whether directly or indirectly, which will be exceptionally rewarding. Through these experiences and emotions, you will emerge as a strong and confident surgeon.

Our faculty members are dedicated to helping you become a skilled technician, well versed in the literature and with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle any challenge.  We wish to see you succeed in whichever career path you choose, and we will do whatever we can to help you to meet those goals.

In addition to the excellent training you will receive here, you will find that the camaraderie among our surgery residents is unsurpassed.  Come and spend time with our residents. You will find a cohesive group of men and women who support each other and enjoy spending time together outside of the hospital.  Many lifelong friendships have been formed during surgical residency here at Jefferson.

If you are going to devote 6 or more years of your life to your surgical training, you want to be in an environment that makes your experience, both inside and outside of the program, as positive as possible. Learn more about our program...
