In Their Own Words...

"During the interview process, I felt I could get adequate surgical training at any of the programs with whom I interviewed. But at Jefferson, I could tell that not only was the training great, with a broad range of experiences, specialities and learning sites; I felt I would be working with people I could truly trust. From the attendings to the residents to the staff, I work with people who I respect and like. When I graduate, I will not only have gained six years of great OR, lab, and patient care experience, I will have gained lifelong friends and colleagues from whom I've learned so much and will miss dearly." |

"One of the factors that truly makes Jefferson stand out from other surgery programs is the level of devotion to resident education. In addition to the training that takes place on the floors and in the operating room, the Thursday morning protected conferences guarantee that, for at least half a day of our workweek, we have time that is pager-free and strictly devoted to our learning. It is rare to find a surgery program that is both nonmalignant and provides the research and clinical training of a major university program. " |

"I chose Jefferson for many reasons. It has the compete educational package- superior faculty that are personable, respectful, and ncredibly well-trained, excellent facilities including a surgical skills lab with regular scheduled training sessions led by attendings, well-crafted thorough didactic curriculum with protected lecture time every Thursday morning, and an enviable camraderie amongst the resident staff and between the residents and attendings. I was looking for a program with plentiful OR time, an academically stimulating environment, and fellow residents that got along well with one another. I found it at Jefferson." |

"What initially drew me to Jefferson was the fact that I was going to gain a great deal of operative experience in a flourishing academic setting in the city. What made me come to love the program is the level of camaraderie among the residents and the wonderful relationships I have developed with many of the faculty." |

"I could tell during the interview process that the residents at the program had a real sense of camaraderie. I was impressed by the unique blend of clinical experience and academic pursuits available at this institution. It was an added bonus to have the hospital located in such a vibrant part of the city.
