License Revenue Distribution
OTT distributes license revenue twice a year, in June and in December. License revenue is distributed in accordance with the TJU Patent Policy in effect at the time the discovery/invention is disclosed. There are 8 patent policies (1982, 1987, 1991, 1997(2), 2002, 2004, and 2006) that govern OTT’s license revenue distribution. The distribution guidelines of the patent policies differ slightly prior to 1997 and onwards. License revenue is distributed among the inventor group, the inventor group’s department, the inventor group’s University operating division, and the University as listed in Table 1 of the TJU Patent Policies. Please click here for further information about the most recent TJU Patent Policy and a reference copy.
Since 2001, OTT has recovered 100% of the University’s patent expenses and 100% of on-going legal reimbursement record from the exclusive licensees of TJU technologies. OTT surpasses virtually all other technology transfer offices in this category reported to the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) in their annual survey..
