OTT actively conducts marketing for patented inventions, unpatented know-how, and research tools. OTT markets the TJU technologies through three channels: 1) web-posting on OTT’s website, 2) direct marketing to target companies, and 3) focused marketing by leveraging OTT’s industry contacts. Industry feedback from marketing is shared with the inventor candidate group and is also used for making patent prosecution-related decisions. Through its continuous marketing efforts and a team approach involving the inventor candidate group, OTT explores many avenues to identify a potential licensee and start licensing discussions.
In addition, OTT markets the TJU research expertise to potential pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors through industry outreach programs. The “Face-to-Face” seminar series gives TJU researchers a chance to learn about industry funding and partnering opportunities and to interact directly with the business executives from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The newly established "Knowledge Map and JeffPOD" is another primary tool for bringing potential sponsors to the University.
