Transport Criteria - Helicopter and Specialty Care Ground Ambulance
JeffSTAT’s services should be summoned when time is critical and/or when an advanced level of medical expertise is needed. This includes:
· Unconsciousness
· Shock
· Head injury with decreased consciousness
· Chest trauma with respiratory distress
· Penetrating injuries to the body cavity
· Multi-systems trauma
· Definitive airway control needed
· Amputations proximal to the hand or foot
· Burns to the face or over 10% of the body
· High-risk obstetrics
· Neonatal and pediatric emergencies
· Time dependent cardiac intervention (PTCA, thrombolysis)
· Physiologic monitoring (A-line, Swanz-Ganz, or ICP)
· Fetal monitoring
· Advanced pharmacological intervention, including antiarrhythmics, vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives, and narcotics
· External life support devices, including ventilators, pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pump, and ventricular assist devices
