Course Name Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Evening Course
Course Description

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training course is designed to prepare participants to provide basic emergency medical care to sick and injured patients. EMTs perform skills such as patient assessment, bandaging, oxygen administration, splinting and spinal immobilization. EMTs provide medical care in a variety of settings – including hospitals, emergency ambulance services, non-emergency transport services and other public safety settings such as police, fire departments and security agencies.

The Evening EMT program is approximately 180 hours in duration running on Monday through Thursday 6PM-10PM for 10 weeks and consists of lectures, hands-on practical demonstrations and field clinical time in a hospital or on an ambulance. Although this is an evening class, students must be aware of the minimum commitment and ability to study two to three hours a day and six to eight hours each weekend. Students are required to take written and practical examinations during the course to demonstrate their ability to provide proper emergency care. Upon successful completion of the JeffSTAT EMT course, students will be eligible to take the State written and practical examinations. Upon passing these examinations, students will receive certification as an EMT from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This certification is valid for three years.
