| Course Description |
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is a continuing education program for EMS providers developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons. The course focuses on trauma patients in the prehospital environment and how to identify, manage and transport these patients with the highest level of care to give them the greatest chance of survival. The course includes didactic training on topics such as the kinematics of injury, rapid patient assessment and pathophysiology. It also includes skill stations with procedures such as rapid extrication, airway management and ventilation, spinal immobilization and pediatric assessment. Pennsylvania EMS providers will receive 16 hours of continuing education credit upon successful completion of this course. The certification is valid for a period of four years.
This is a two-day program. Course times:
- Day 1 - 07:30 to 17:30
- Day 2 - 08:00 to 16:30

Refund Policy
Non-Jefferson Employees
- Course participants will be issued a refund only if they cancel within 48 hours prior to the course start time.
- Any course participant who shows up more than 15 minutes late to the course and is denied entry will not be issued a refund.
- Course participants who do not show up for the course will not be issued a refund.
