Course Name Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) - Initial Course Jefferson Hospital Location
Course Description

The Basic Life Support Provider program is designed to educate participants on the risk factors of heart disease and stroke. In addition, the participant will learn the indications and treatment procedures for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and airway obstruction. Instruction on use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), rescue breathing on adults, children and infants is also included. This course is taught according to the standards of the American Heart Association. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification card valid for two years.

Textbook Requirements
A textbook is required for this course. The title of the textbook is "BLS for Healthcare Providers", written by the American Heart Association.  Textbooks can be ordered online at the Jefferson Bookstore by visiting www.jefferson.edu/bookstore or by calling 1-888-TJU-Book. The bookstore is located at 1009 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Prerequisites

Each student is required to have a course textbook, which is not included in the course fee. The title of the textbook is "BLS for Healthcare Providers", written by the  American Heart Association.

Refund Policy

Non-Jefferson Employees

  • Course participants will be issued a refund only if they cancel within 24 hours prior to the course start time.
  • Any course participant who shows up more than 15 minutes late to the course and is denied entry will not be issued a refund.
  • Course participants who do not show up for the course will not be issued a refund.

Jefferson Employees
If an employee who fails to attend the course (no-show) or does not cancel within 24 hours notice prior to the course start time or is denied entry into the course for being more than 15 minutes late, his/her department will be responsible for the tuition of the course fees. The department head will receive an IDC for the FULL amount of the tuition.
