Course Description

AMLS Provider Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

• apply critical thinking skills to integrate pathophysiology with the assessment findings of a medical patient;• identify and differentiate between actual and potential patient problems;• improve their ability to conduct a competent medical examination that utilizes proper diagnostic skills, critical thinking, and interventions;• improve their ability to utilize problem-solving strategies in interventions and management alternatives;• review the communication procedures necessary to relay pertinent findings and interventions to the receiving facility.

AMLS Refresher Purpose

The Advanced Medical Life Support provider certification is valid for four years; to renew, participants attend an AMLS Refresher program. The AMLS Refresher course has been designed to provide a review of key AMLS information and testing for the purpose of recertifying providers every four years.

AMLS Refresher Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

• discuss through case study, the AMLS assessment, field impression and differential impressions in a patient with complaints of respiratory difficulties, chest pain, shock, altered mental status and abdominal pain;• successfully complete testing scenarios and a written exam.

Accreditation

 

The PADoH Acredits this program for Continuing Education. The course length is 18 Hours. FR's and EMT's may receive 9.5 CE's while Paramedics and PHRN's may receive 16 CE's for this course.

 

AMLS Provider Purpose

The Advanced Medical Life Support Provider course is a two-day, in-depth study of medical emergencies. This course emphasizes a very practical approach and format. The curriculum is designed to allow for an ample amount of actual hands-on physical assessment of patients. The AMLS course, and specially written book, are aimed directly at paramedics and EMS nurses. They include time-tested strategies of education, developed by the National Association of EMTs and the National Association of EMS Physicians.

AMLS is an advanced course open to EMT-Paramedics, EMT-Intermediates, EMT-Basics, and to registered nurses or physicians with at least one year of clinical experience. To complete the course, participants MUST read the text before the class.

Refund Information

You will receive a refund of all but $25 of your registration fee if registration is canceled prior to the mailing of course materials. After course materials have been mailed, until 48 hours prior to the beginning of the course, a 50% refund will be provided. No tuition refund will be provided if cancellation is less than 48 hours prior to the beginning of the course.

The EMSLRC reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient enrollment. In this event, you will be notified and your entire registration fee refunded.

The registration fee covers the cost of record keeping expenses, program materials, faculty expenses and continuing education recording.
