                                                        H1N1 Alert

If you are an employee or student and suspect that you may have contracted or been exposed to Novel Influenza A H1N1 (swine flu), please contact our office for direction.  Remember to take the following simple steps to stay healthy through this upcoming summer season:

  1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.  Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  2. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.  Alcohol-based cleaners are also effective.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. Remember that although the flu shot is not protective against H1N1, it remains an excellent method of prevention for Influenza A, a virus that kills 36,000 Americans annually.  Vaccinations will begin in October for all students and employees.

Pre-matriculation Requirements for Jefferson Students

All students are required to submit a pre-matriculation physical examination form to UHS prior to registration.  Our address is listed below.  Current Jefferson employees may have this done free of charge in UHS.  Please fill out the first two pages of pre-matriculation form and bring to our office.

Work Related Illnesses

Ill employees may be seen to determine their ability to work.  University Health Services will refer all employees to their primary care provider for evaluation and treatment

Occupational Exposures for Employees and Students

Any employee of student who has sustained a body fluid exposure should be seen as soon as possible in UHS, or in the Jefferson Emergency Department during off hours.  See Occupational Exposure to Body Fluid Section at top left of page.
