Clinical Electives Overview

Thank you for your interest in taking an elective at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.  We accept students in their final year of training from both domestic and international medical Colleges.

The following departments will have no elective positions available for International Medical Students:

  • Neurology
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology (students enrolled at St. George's University, School of London will be considered as part of the Exchange Program.
  • Pediatrics
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Surgery

***Medicine will only consider applications for Block 18***

Please note:

  • Rehabilitation Medicine will only be accepting students for REHAB 401
  • The Department of Psychiatry will consider both domestic and international students.  However, visiting students who are applying for Psychiatry electives at  Einstein and Belmont must fill out an application through VSAS.  Psychiatry electives at Einstein and Belmont are not available to international students.
  • The Department of Anesthesia requests USMLE or Complex 1 and School transcript prior to elective approval.
