Student Insurance

Thomas Jefferson University requires all matriculated students (PhD, MS, Certificate, and Post-Baccalaureate) to have health insurance, and to complete the enrollment/waiver process each academic year.

Students starting their program in the Fall semester and continuing students must complete the University’s student health insurance requirement during the open enrollment period.

The open-enrollment period for the Jefferson College of Biomedical Sciences begins on July 15, 2015 and ends September 30, 2015.  If you are currently enrolled in any insurance plans offered through the College of Biomedical Sciences in the 2014-15 academic year, this coverage will expire on August 31, 2015.  You MUST complete online enrollment for insurance coverage in 2015-2016 by the first day of classes.

Students are responsible for the cost of coverage for any spouse/dependents or the optional dental insurance plan.  Any additional payment must be made by the first day of classes.

Full-time doctoral students receiving a fellowship award in JCBS will have their health insurance funded through their program/department, but you MUST complete the online enrollment to have coverage in 2015-2016.

Programs that Start Off-Cycle from the Standard Academic Year

All students starting their program in the SPRING, SUMMER or PRE-FALL semester must complete the University’s health insurance requirement by the first day of class.
