Postbaccalaureate Pre-Professional Program (P4)


Note: This is a "career changer program" intended for students who have a limited science background. If you have completed more than half of the prerequisite coursework for medical school, or if you have taken the MCAT, you are not eligible for this program.

Application Deadlines

We will accept applications after the deadlines. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Summer (1 year accelerated): March 1st (Priority Deadline)
Fall  (2 year): June 1st (Priority Deadline)

Applications received after the priority deadlines are reviewed on a space-available basis and at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.


  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian college/university 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (with a minimum science coursework GPA of 3.2)
  • Minimum standardized test scores:  SAT - 1000 (taken before 2005)/1600 (taken 2005 or later), ACT - 21
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Strong interest in the healthcare field, demonstrated by work and volunteer experiences

Application Instructions


Jefferson College of Biomedical Sciences (JCBS) has partnered with UniCAS, a central application service, to collect and manage applications to our Postbaccalaureate Pre-Professional Program (P4).

The application fee is $75.00 and needs to be submitted by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) upon submission of the application. The fee is non-refundable.

P4 is listed under Undergraduate on the Thomas Jefferson University CAS application:

  • Postbaccalaureate Studies-1 year: Pre-Fall 2015
  • Postbaccalaureate Studies-2 year: Fall 2015

Official Transcripts

Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities they have attended. This includes any study-abroad programs or transfer credit not reflected on undergraduate transcripts with full course titles and final grades.

If your courses were completed outside of the United States, you must submit a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services.

Letters of Reference, Two Letters Required

The P4 requires two letters of recommendation (at least one academic).

When requesting standardized tests to be sent to JCBS please use the following:

A Resume/CV can be uploaded to the Supporting Information section of the application under Attachments.

When an application is submitted, applicants will receive an email within 24 hours to confirm that we have received the application.

Applications will be reviewed, and strong candidates will be invited for an interview with the Director of P4. A final decision will be communicated to all applicants within six weeks following the interview.
