The new Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Nurse Residency Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is designed for new to practice nurses or graduate nurses (GNs) entering into the profession within the previous six months. The one year program follows the curriculum developed by the University Health System Consortium (UHC) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The program focuses on  nurses, employed in acute care areas, to develop the skills necessary to transition into their first professional role.

The program is facilitated by expert nurses via interactive sessions, simulation and case scenarios with special emphasis in the following areas:

  • Patient safety
  • Leadership abilities
  • Evidence based practice at the bedside
  • Professional development
  • Autonomy at the point of care/bedside
  • Communication and critical thinking skills
