About the Office

The Office of University Counsel provides support for the University’s educational, research and health care mission.

Our in-house legal services are designed to facilitate University business, to advise University clients on a variety of matters, to enable the University to avoid or minimize liability, to initiate legal action on behalf of the University when necessary, and to provide legal support for enhancing University revenue.

The Office seeks to provide the highest level of comprehensive client service and counseling through the development of several major areas of expertise, including contracts, corporate compliance, health law, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation and scientific and medical research matters.

The office staff includes attorneys, compliance staff and support personnel. The chief counsel is University Counsel, a senior officer of the University who reports directly to the University President.
