Janice Reid-Clarke Receives Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Paradigm Award

Janice Reid-Clarke, a Health Services Management Information Systems student in the Department of Professional and Continuing Studies at Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson School of Health Professions (JSHP), received a 2013 Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Paradigm Award. This scholarship is awarded annually to professional women who show exceptional leadership traits and a great contribution to the Greater Philadelphia region.

"I was elated and honored to receive such a competitive and prestigious award,” said Reid-Clarke. “This will alleviate the financial burden of college expenses and allow me to further my education and career. Health Services Management is a constantly changing landscape, and this scholarship will help me to make the greatest impact.”

Reid-Clarke found out about the Paradigm Awards from her manager, Deputy Library Director for Academic and Instructional Support and Resources (AISR) at Thomas Jefferson University, Rod MacNeil, and the Director of Undergraduate Programs, Lee E. Bryant, MEd. The scholarship is for students pursuing an undergraduate degree and working as a full-time employee of a Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce member company. Recipients can be awarded up to $5,000 over a two-year span for academic resources, such as tuition or books.

"I am ecstatic that Janice has received this award – she is a dedicated and driven student,” said Bryant.  "To know that she received this award is certainly a blessing. I hope this encourages more students to apply for scholarship funds that are sent by my office.”
