Jefferson is one of few academic health centers that awards Radiologic Sciences students with a bachelor of science degree, offering graduates many career options in the field of radiologic sciences, including opportunities for advancement. The executive Master’s degree program is the first of its kind in the U.S.
BS graduates have boasted a 95-100% career placement rate since 1995, and they have an 85% average pass rate on certification exams for all imaging modalities, and less than a 10% attrition rate.
BS in Radiologic Sciences
- Two-year Multicompetency BS track. Study two modalities or one modality plus education, health management, or healthcare information systems.
- One-year Advanced Placement BS track (for students with a BS or experience). Study one modality.

A Rigorous Schedule
- BS tracks are full-time for 24 months (multicompetency students) or 12 months (advanced placement students).
- Classes and/or clinical are typically Mondays through Fridays, 8 hours per day – times vary from program to program.
- Didactic, laboratory and clinical education components are integrated to provide majority of classroom work in earlier semesters with clinical rotations increasing sequentially.

The department has several pieces of state-of-the-art equipment for student use:
- Energized radiography laboratory with new state-of-the-art Agfa computed radiography (CR) digital equipment
- VERT-Virtual Environment for Radiotherapy Training equipment
- Three Phillips HD11 and two Siemens X300 ultrasound machines
- Parks FloLab computerized vascular unit
- Dosimetry lab with three planning systems – XIO, Eclipse and Pinnacle
- Diacor laser patient positioning radiation therapy lab with Rando Phantom® anthropomorphic model
- Fully-equipped radiopharmaceutical laboratory
- Interactive computer software for radiography/sonography education and review for national board examinations
- Immobilization device fabrication labs and equipment
All BS graduates are eligible to take the associated certification examinations of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), and Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB), as applicable. Students who pass these examinations receive national certification. Multicompetency students may not be able to take board exams until the BS is awarded at the completion of the 2-year program.
