Welcome to Philadelphia! Philadelphia is a world-class city with plenty of things to do and see! Thomas Jefferson University is proud to be a part of such a dynamic, diverse and historic city.

While living here it's important to learn about the city and it's neighborhoods. You will often hear people reference the different neighborhoods such as Washington Square West, Old City, Society Hill, Queen's Village, Northern Liberties, Rittenhouse Square, Bella Vista, University City, and so on. Thomas Jefferson University is located in the Washington West neighborhood.

Dining Off-Campus: Thomas Jefferson University is close to many different restaurants just off campus. Utilizing a website such as Citysearch or MenuPages will help guide you to what restaurants are close by or located throughout the city.

Reading Terminal Market - Mouth-watering aromas. Produce fresh from the field. Amish specialties. Fresh meats, seafood, and poultry. Unique, hand-made pottery, jewelry and crafts from around the world. (12th and Arch Streets)

Italian Market the oldest and largest working outdoor market in the United States. (South 9th Street)

Grocery Stores close to campus:
ACME is a popular chain in Southeastern Pennsylvania with lots of groceries, exceptional freshness, quality and value. (10th and South Streets)

Whole Foods Market is the world's largest retailer of natural and organic foods, with stores throughout North America and the United Kingdom (10th and South Streets)

Trader Joe's Market When it comes to grocery chains, Trader Joe's isn't your average Joe. With about 350 stores in some 25 states, the company offers upscale grocery fare such as health foods, organic produce, and nutritional supplements. (21st and Market Streets)

Kimmel Center The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, which includes Verizon Hall, Perelman Theater, Innovation Studio and the Merck Arts Education Center. Kimmel Center, Inc. also manages the Academy of Music, owned by the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, and the University of the Arts' Merriam Theater.
Trocadero Theatre The Trocadero Theatre is an independent music venue located in Philadelphia, PA. The historic Victorian theater currently hosts concerts, movie screenings and more.
The Mann The Mann Center for the Performing Arts presents diverse, world-class entertainment in a beautiful park setting at affordable prices.
Forrest TheatreThe Forrest is one of Philadelphia's premier venues for live theatre, presenting only the very best plays and musicals that Broadway has to offer.
Prince Music Theatre The Prince Music Theater was founded in 1984 as the American Music Theater Festival, and in 1999 established a permanent home at 1412 Chestnut Street on the Avenue of the Arts.
Society Hill Playhouse Society Hill Playhouse is located in the heart of the Society Hill District (just 1/2 block off the "hot" South Street Corridor). This is theatre for people who don't like theatre ... or who think they don't. Housed in the historic David Garrick Hall.

Philadelphia Museum of Art As one of the largest art museums in the United States, the Philadelphia Museum of Art invites visitors from around the world to explore its renowned art collections, acclaimed special exhibitions,andenriching programs, both in-person and online.

Mütter Museum contains a collection of medical oddities, anatomical and pathological specimens, wax models, and antique medical equipment. The museum is part of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia.

Independence National Historical Park Philadelphia is the birthplace of the United States. Explore the history of not just the city, but the country as well.

Fairmount Park Fairmount Park is Philadelphia's Park System. With over 9,200 acres, it claims 10% of the land in Philadelphia (City and County). Fairmount Park has been called "one of the largest urban parks in the country."
