Jefferson's Employee Wellness Program

The program was established to enhance the quality of life of Jefferson employees by promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the risk of illness by utilizing Jefferson's wide range of educational and clinical resources. Jefferson has partnered with Independence Blue Cross to create a rewards program with an interactive online employee portal through a collaboration with WebMD®. Please read below to learn how you can LiveWell@Jeff!

15% Savings for Wellness Rates in 2015!
Wellness Deadline: September 30 
We are pleased to be able to continue to offer a 15% savings on medical plan rates in 2015 for those employees who complete the LiveWell@Jeff program requirements. The deadline to enter your activities on the IBC website ( and complete program requirements is September 30 at midnight. Spouse/Domestic Partners on your health plan must also complete the required activities listed above in order for you to receive the award. Additional details can be found below under Rewards Program.

Tobacco-free Attestation Deadline: September 30
All benefit-eligible employees must complete the Tobacco-free Attestation by September 30.The attestation is available in Employee Self-Service. Select Benefits and then Tobacco-free Attestation. Check the box that applies to you and click Submit.

September 29 - Talking to Your Children About Weight & Health (5 points)
12 p.m. - 1 p.m., Methodist, Morgan Conference Room 
The Philadelphia Health Initiative (PHI) at Jefferson invites you to learn more productive ways to talk to children about weight and health and strategies for bringing up this very sensitive topic. Please make sure to register by calling 215-955-8801 or email by September 25.

September 29 - Registration Due for Weight Watchers at Gibbon (25 points)

September 30 - Bariatric Surgery Seminar (5 points)
12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Methodist, Morgan Conference Room
Meet our physicians, learn about various procedures and find out if bariatric surgery is right for you or a member of your family. Please make sure to register beforehand by calling 1-800-JEFF-NOW.

October 1 - Weekly Wellness Walks in October!
12 p.m. - 1 p.m., Meet in front of the Jefferson Bookstore
Join your colleagues for some fresh air and a brisk walk to Penn’s Landing. The walk will take approximately one hour, but if you only have 30 minutes, come out and walk as long can! Walking has many health benefits including managing weight, improving your mood and staying strong and fit. Walking is safe, simple, and doesn’t require practice!

October 1 - Charting Your Course: A Financial Guide for Women (5 points)
12 p.m. - 1 p.m., 1100 Walnut St., 3rd Floor Conference Room
TIAA-CREF gives financial advice, providing practical ways to save, to plan for retirement and to improve your financial literacy. Learn about issues that women face in every stage of life. Please make sure to register beforehand by calling 1-800-JEFF-NOW.

October 7 - Decades of Do's and Don'ts: A Diva's Guide to Cancer Prevention (5 points)
1 p.m. - 2 p.m., 925 Chestnut St., Tom Lewis Learning Center, 4th Floor
Join Dr. Marianne Ritchie as she presents this cancer prevention seminar. "Treat yourself like a Diva or no one else will. Take time to take care of yourself!" Pharmacy Consults (5 points)
The Pharmacy Department is pleased to offer you and your family a 30-minute consult which includes a comprehensive medication review including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and herbal/supplements. Call or email Christie Halas, 5-1782 /, to schedule an appointment.

Convenient Cancer Screening Progam for Women (15-30 points)
Jefferson now provides multiple screenings in ONE location and ONE visit (offered at Center City and Methodist locations). You can schedule screenings together: mammogram and colon cancer pre-screening and GYN exam. Call 1-800-JEFF-NOW to schedule your appointment.

Lung Cancer Screening Program
Jefferson Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine has partnered with Human Resources to offer a comprehensive Lung Cancer Screening Program to employees for free. The screening program includes a low dose CT scan of the chest, physical examination, breathing test, review of the CT scan by a radiologist and smoking cessation counseling. Spouse/Domestic Partner Criteria

Spouses/Domestic Partners on your health plan must also complete the required activities listed above in order for you to receive the reward. They will have access to the IBC Wellness Portal beginning January 1, 2014 and will be able to enter any completed activities since November 1. Their activities will not receive points as they are not required to earn 70 points; they must only complete the required activities and enter them into the Portal, by September 30, 2014.

Jefferson employees who are the primary insurance carrier on the Jefferson Health Plans are eligible to earn rewards and points.
