Jefferson's Employee Wellness Program

The program was established to enhance the quality of life of Jefferson employees by promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the risk of illness by utilizing Jefferson's wide range of educational and clinical resources. Jefferson has partnered with Independence Blue Cross to create a rewards program with an interactive online employee portal through a collaboration with WebMD®. Hit Your Stride (15 points)
Track your steps this summer with the Hit Your Stride Walking Challenge. The challenge runs from July 14 through September 5. Registration opens July 1. To register, go to the IBC Wellness Portal (, click on WebMD link in upper right corner. Then click on the link under the Action Plan section and sign up for the Challenge and select your team. You must record a minimum of 27 days out of the 8 week challenge to earn 15 wellness points.

Effective April 1, Jefferson is a smoke-free campus, and July 1 Jefferson will implement a nicotine-free hiring policy.

July 29 - Talking to Your Children About Weight & Health (5 points)

The Philadelphia Health Initiative (PHI) at Jefferson invites you to learn more productive ways to talk to children about weight and health and strategies for bringing up this very sensitive topic. Please make sure to register by emailing or calling 215-955-8801 by July 25.

July 29 - Bariatric Surgery Seminar (5 points)
12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Methodist, Morgan Conference Room

Pharmacy Consults (5 points)
The Pharmacy Department is pleased to offer you and your family a 30-minute consult which includes a comprehensive medication review including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and herbal/supplements. Call or email Christie Halas, 5-1782 /, to schedule an appointment.

Convenient Cancer Screening Progam for Women (15 points)
Jefferson now provides multiple screenings in ONE location and ONE visit (offered at Center City and Methodist locations). You can schedule screenings together: mammogram and colon cancer pre-screening and GYN exam. Call 1-800-JEFF-NOW to schedule your appointment.

Lung Cancer Screening Program
Jefferson Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine has partnered with Human Resources to offer a comprehensive Lung Cancer Screening Program to employees for free. The screening program includes a low dose CT scan of the chest, physical examination, breathing test, review of the CT scan by a radiologist and smoking cessation counseling. Spouse/Domestic Partner Criteria

Spouses/Domestic Partners on your health plan must also complete the required activities listed above in order for you to receive the reward. They will have access to the IBC Wellness Portal beginning January 1, 2014 and will be able to enter any completed activities since November 1. Their activities will not receive points as they are not required to earn 70 points; they must only complete the required activities and enter them into the Portal, by September 30, 2014.

Jefferson employees who are the primary insurance carrier on the Jefferson Health Plans are eligible to earn rewards and points.
