Child Care Center
One of the first on-site child care centers in Philadelphia, the Jefferson Child Care Center has been operational since 1983. Operated by CCLC, a division of Knowledge Universe, for Jefferson employees and students, the center is licensed for 56 children, ages six weeks to five years, and is supported by Jefferson Administration in its operation, developmental programs, and continued enhancements. It is located on Jefferson’s Center City campus.
Additionally, CCLC offers discounted rates for Jefferson employee's at any Kinder Care or Champions facility. There are over 70 centers within 25 miles of downtown Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Pregnancy Accommodation Law
A recently enacted Philadelphia city ordinance requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant employees provided that the accommodations will not cause an undue hardship. The City of Philadelphia has published a notice to provide additional information.

Employee Lactation Lounges
If you are a breastfeeding mother returning to work, these private comfortable rooms, for employees only, are available to pump for your baby during your work day. At present, there are six Lactation Lounges on the Center City campus and one lactation lounge at the Methodist Campus. They are located at:
- Pavilion Building: Room 1125 , Room 1225A
- Gibbon Building: 7th Floor, Elevator Lobby (11th Street side)
- 833 Chestnut Street: University Health, Suite 205
- JHN: 1st Floor Lobby (behind Admissions)
- Methodist Campus: 1st Floor

Retail Breast Pump Program
Jefferson offers new mothers the convenience of purchasing electronic breast pumps and other breastfeeding aides through the Parent Education office. Contact Terry O’Brien RN, MSN, CCE, CBC , in the Parent Education office at (215) 955-6713 for more information.
If you are pregnant or a new mother and have a question about breastfeeding, certified lactation consultants are available to answer questions and provide additional information about many topics related to breastfeeding. all the Breastfeeding Warmline at (215) 955-6665 for assistance.
Other Parenting Resources
Through Jefferson’s contract with the Carebridge Corporation, cost-free professional services are available to provide you advice during the adoption process. To learn more, click on the Carebridge Employee Assistance page under Benefits.
Jefferson provides assistance up to $3,000 for the expenses incurred from adopting or gaining of custody of a child. Please refer to Policy #200.59 for more information.
